                                 SCHOOL INFORMATION
     The Calderone School of Music is a NJ Registered Professional Development Provider and offers private music lessons to students of all ages and levels on every instrument: strings, woodwinds, brasses, percussion, organ, piano, accordion, keyboards, voice, and popular, jazz and classical guitar and bass and harp. The school also has a College Preparatory Division and a Professional Development Division for Public School Teachers' Continuing Education. The curriculum is well-rounded and comprehensive. Designed on the Kodàly Music Philosophy, the school curricula includes the principles of the National Standards and the methodologies of Orff, Dalcroze and Suzuki. The experienced degreed teaching staff are trained by the school as master teachers. All styles of music are available for study including classical, jazz, Broadway, rock and roll, folk and popular music.

Kindermusik classes are offered as a fun-fill enriching adventure in music concepts for young children from birth to age 7. They are culturally enriching and develop cognition as well as provide learning age appropriate musical concepts and how to play instruments. These classes are also designed for the child who likes music but is not sure about studying an instrument or does not know what instrument he wants to study. Kindermusik teachers are degreed music instructors who are certified by Kindermusik and are young child specialists.

SUZUKI STRINGS PLUS PROGRAM provides an enjoyable parent-shared learning experience on string instruments for children ages 3 to 7 years. Weekly group classes and private lessons make provide an optimal situation for young string players.

     Students may choose to take part in ensembles, auditions, and competitions or simply learn for their own enjoyment. CSM offers exams in the Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Schievement Program, ABRSM, MEA, ASTA, Guild, NATS and many others.  Weekly Saturday Mini-recitals are informal and provide an opportunity for experience and growth to any student at any level. Formal recitals take place in June and students receive their awards. The school also offers the CSM Evaluation Exams every spring. All extra curricular activities are optional.

SCHOOL HISTORY
     The Calderone School of Music was founded in 1975 and provides a quality education with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The experienced professional staff of fifty-five dedicated teachers with advanced degrees in music consists of certified teachers and college professors, teaching their specialty instruments. Kathleen Calderone, the founder, received her BA
in Music Education from Kean University, where she is an adjunct professor, holds a Kodàly Graduate Certification in music education from Westminster Choir College, obtained her Masters of Arts for Teachers in Music at Rutgers University, possesses 
                                           a New Jersey Supervisor Certification, and pursing
                                           Ph.D. from Capella University.

From South Orange Avenue:
1.        Travel west past the Livingston Mall where street name changes from South Orange Avenue to Columbia Turnpike.
2.        Continue approximately 1 mile past the Bennigan’s Restaurant & turn right at the 2nd light onto Ridgedale Avenue.
3.        Proceed approximately 1½ miles, cross over Route 10 & we are the third building on the left around the back.

From Route 24 East or West & (Columbia Turnpike begin at #2):
1.        Take the Florham Park Exit 2B onto Columbia Turnpike East.
2.        Then from Columbia Turnpike proceed approximately 1 mile to a light at the McDonald’s & turn left onto James Street.
3.        At the first light make a left onto Ridgedale Avenue.
4.        Proceed approximately 1½ miles, cross over Route 10 & we are the third building on the left around the back

From Route 10 West:
1.        In East Hanover turn at the first light past the Sony Movie Theatre onto Ridgedale Avenue & we are the third building on the left around the back.

From Route 46:
1.        In Pine Brook take New Road South toward East Hanover where street name changes to Ridgedale Avenue.
2.        Then travel approximately 2 miles to Riverwalk Plaza (just past Esposito’s Meat market) around the back.

From Route 280 West or East:
1.        Take exit 4 A Eisenhower Parkway and proceed to the first light and turn right onto Eagle Rock Road and proceed to the end.
2.        Turn left onto Ridgedale Avenue. School is about 1¾ miles down on the right.

From Route 80 East, Route 287 (begin at #2) & Route 10 East (begin at #3):
1.        From Route 80 East take the exit for Route 287 South.
2.        From 287 take the Route 10 East exit.
3.        Once in Whippany at the P.C. Richards turn left from a right hand jug handle onto Algonquin Turnpike.
4.        Proceed 1 block & turn right onto Melanie Lane.
5.        Then proceed 1 block & turn right onto Ridgedale Avenue & we are the first building on the right around the back.

From Route 80 West:
1.        Take Exit 48 for Pine Brook Montville, go to the end of the street & turn left onto Hook Mountain Road.
2.        Proceed to the light & turn right onto Bloomfield Ave.
3.        Take the second left onto New Road (cross over Route 46) & continue for approx. 2 miles where the street name will change to Ridgedale Avenue.  We are past Esposito’s Meat Market in the Riverwalk Plaza around the back.

Parking on street; parking lots at the lights east and west of the school; town parking lot on Center Street faces school.

From Old Short Hills Road:
1.        Continue into Millburn Center & cross Millburn Avenue where the street name changes to Main Street.
2.        Proceed approximately ¾ mile & turn right at the third light onto Springfield Avenue
3.        Go one block and turn right at the light onto Morris Avenue . School is 100 yards past the second light on the right.

From Millburn Avenue West (Spring Street):
1.        Turn left at the Carvel onto Old Short Hills Road & cross Millburn Avenue where the street name changes to Main Street.
2.        Proceed approximately ¾ mile & turn right at the third light onto Springfield Avenue.
3.        Go one block and turn right at the light onto Morris Avenue. School is 100 yards past the second light on the right.

From Millburn Avenue East:
1.        Turn right at light past the Millburn Movie Theatre onto Main Street.
2.        Proceed approximately ¾ mile & turn right at the third light onto Springfield Avenue. 
3.        Go one block and turn right at the light onto Morris Avenue. School is 100 yards past the second light on the right.

From Route 24 East to Route 78 East:
1.        Take exit 49A for Springfield/Union.
2.        Proceed to second light & turn right onto Morris Avenue. School is 100 yards past the second light on the right.
 
From Route 78 West:
1.        Take exit 50 B for 124 West, Springfield. At the light turn right onto Vauxhall Road.
2.        Proceed to 2nd light & turn left onto Springfield Avenue.
3.        Proceed to the fourth light & turn right onto Morris Avenue. School is 100 yards past the second light on the right. From Route 22 East or West and So. Springfield Avenue:

From Route 22 East or West and So. Springfield Avenue:
1.        Take the 577 N. Springfield exit just under the overpass onto So. Springfield Ave. Continue straight and the road name changes to Meisel Avenue 509N.
2.        Proceed approximately 2 miles, around a bend and turn right at the second light onto Morris Ave. School is 100 yards past  second light on the right.
